The project was to take an existing novel and completely redesign the exterior and interior. The purpose was to create and work within a system where each piece affects the next. Also, to create a proper aesthetic for the chosen novel that includes formatting spreads, and font selection. Ultimately, this was an exploration of publication design and showcases proper type usage for multi-paged documents.
Ella Enchanted is a childhood favorite. I wanted to capture its childlike fairytale feel by mimicking the appearance of an old leather bound book. The gold and green color scheme are a homage to the original cover. This project taught me to properly format a book for publication that is legible and adds to the novels tone.
